Room air purification - we make the difference

The pollutants present in the air are carried by the air convection to the coated surface. On the NADICARE® coating, pollutants and organic impurities are decomposed into harmless substances by photocatalysis, the room air is cleaned continuously. Contrary to air purification devices, photocatalysis requires only daylight or artificial light. Due to the additional self-cleaning effect, the coated surface remains pure much longer.

Transforming the requirements of our customers into customizable products complies with the high demands which we are imposing on ourselves in the development of tailor-made products.

Quite often, specific surface finishes, environmental parameters or a high mechanical stress mean a major challenge for the durability or reactivity of the photocatalytic coating. We will meet this challenge and, apart form standard solutions, offer also tailor-made products or bonding systems which are optimized to the requirements of our customers. The integration of photocatalytic titanium dioxide in the matrix of existing or newly developed products is also possible in collaboration with our laboratory.

Needless to say: all product developments will meet the highest confidentiality standards.

The process of product development is influenced very strongly by close cooperation with the customer and it usually starts with the joint definition of the product strategy. Accordingly, the product strategy, as an essential element of our corporate strategy, is used as the basis for the definition of the specific features of any newly developed product variant.

The product definition also includes all steps which are necessary to integrate the new product into the specific manufacturing process of the customer.

This often includes the joint analysis of customer requirements, a systematic analysis of competition and the determination of the price which the end user is willing to pay for a new or refined product. This phase is finished with a first calculation of our customer's profitability.

Upon request, we also accompany the process of external certifications of newly developed products or surfaces for our customers.

Hygiene lighting

The prerequisite for good and sustainable photocatalysis is light. Perfect lighting conditions can now be achieved with new LED luminaires and lamps. Therefore, the coating of luminaire covers of all kinds is a good idea for the air purification and hygienisation of interior spaces, since on the surface of the luminaire there is most of the light energy in the room.

Coated lamps clean the air in a very effective way. The reactive oxygen species generated on the surface of the luminaire are capable of effectively removing odors, nicotine, cooking and toilet odors as well as viruses, germs and bacteria which can be transmitted through the air and come into contact with the luminaire surface.

Infections from the air

The droplet infection and the path of infection through the air are an integral part of the direct transmission pathway of pathogens of various kinds.

Particularly dangerous are so-called "droplet cores", which often measure only 5 μm and can travel long distances over the air. This is referred to as an aerogenic transmission. A good example is here the Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the causative agent of tuberculosis, which is transmitted chiefly in this way.

Pathogens transmitted through the air reach the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract and multiply there. Particularly during the cold season, flu-like infections are often transmitted along this path.

The coating of lamps

The coating of luminaire surfaces places high demands on the binding system and the correct processing of the coating products since surfaces such as PMMA and polycarbonate are very hydrophobic and have to be prepared for a permanent coating. For the crosslinking, drying and curing of these special coating systems, various integral process steps with IR and UV irradiation are required. For quality assurance, the luminaire and cover is only coated on modern PHOTOKAT production plants in Germany.

Faceplates

For simple retrofitting of existing lighting systems (for example, grid lights), we supply coated front panels for insertion into the ceiling grid or retrofitted into existing luminaires. The front panels are available in all standard dimensions and on request also in individual special formats.

The economy

Often the energy efficient replacement of existing lighting systems (e.g., T5 lights) is not economical. Here the retrofit of blends is a perfect solution. The blinds are simply inserted into the ceiling grid under the existing louvre. As a rule, fastening is not required as the overhead light reliably secures the lens.

The active principle

A coated ceiling light (60 x 60 cm, 5000 lumens) completely breaks down the smoke of a cigarette (23 mg organic material!) In 75 minutes to carbon dioxide, water and safe nitrates.

Nitrogen oxides from car exhaust gases pollute the air in our inner city. They cause numerous damage and increase disease risks such as respiratory problems and others. Our product is able to remove more than 85% of harmful gases, eg exhaust oxides (NO_x), formaldehyde, benzene and VOC (volatile organic compounds) in our environment quickly and effectively. Toxic oxides of nitrogen are mainly reduced to safe nitrates and can be easily washed away from the rain.

The self-cleaning industrial coating for facades, building elements and sun protection

The photocatalytic coating of plastic-based (for example painted or powder coated) surfaces is still a major challenge and we are particularly proud that we have mastered this challenge with the know-how and inventor spirit "Made in Germany".

Our product is an ultra-clear and transparent layer of active titanium dioxide. Under the influence of light, this layer becomes photocatalytically active and cleaves oxygen radicals from the air, which then react with organic substances and thus decompose them effectively and sustainably.

The result is a self-cleaning surface. Organic dirt is decomposed, and inorganic dirt particles are degraded. The hydrophilicity of the coated surface ensures a very effective self-washing effect.

In addition, photocatalysis also cleans the air of gaseous pollutants, such as hazardous nitrogen oxides (NO_x) and organic fine dust.

Our product produces a photocatalytically active protective layer of titanium dioxide (TiO₂) on the façade. With the help of the light energy, the TiO₂ activates pure oxygen from the ambient air, which decomposes all organic deposits on the coated surface of the facade by oxidation ("cold combustion").

With the coating, the façade is not only free of algae, but also completely free of toxic substances. Up until now, one had to protect the annoying algae plague only with poisonous fungicides and bactericides, the effect of which, according to the system, would fly again after some time. The coating, however, has a long-lasting and lasting effect, which is only due to the power of light and oxygen, which means that it is completely toxic and harmless for humans, animals and the environment.

This saves a considerable portion of the current cleaning and maintenance costs. In addition, field tests yielded a solar energy yield of up to 8% higher compared to uncoated solar collectors at the same site.

The coating differs from the nano-coatings, which are offered as anti-reflective coatings for PV modules, by actively removing the soiling on the glass surface (self-cleaning effect) and eliminating the notorious sticking of organic dirt .

It is also unique that the coating reliably prevents the infestation of PV modules with the dreaded black fungi. These microorganisms entrapped from the desert regions of Arabia can not be distinguished from normal environmental dust with the naked eye. The Federal Institute for Materials Testing (BAM) has demonstrated that black fungi can easily penetrate the solar glass and remove minerals from it, so that the glass becomes turbid and brittle. This considerably reduces the life of PV modules.
